ARTIST ADMISSIONS

At this time we are not able to accept International Artists outside of North America.


Each member is entitled to a four(4) week solo show in one of the gallery's two(2) exhibiting rooms. (Approx 76 linear feet each.) The dates of the solo shows are determined by lottery.

Members may have one solo show approx every 18-24 months. Artists exhibiting in a solo show are encouraged to seek advice from the gallery's advisory committee and other members, and should coordinate and plan their publicity and receptions with the artist in the adjacent room.

TO APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP:
Applications and art work are screened on the second Sunday of each month except July and August. All members present will review and judge potential candidates whether or not there is a current opening available. (The May screening takes place on the first or third Sunday due to Mothers day).

SLIDES/CDs:
Submit 8 to 10 professional quality slides or a CD of current art work. As well as slides/CD, please include an image list with all your contact information. Both images and list must contain the following: artists name, medium, dimensions of art work and title.

ACTUAL ART WORK:
Actual work must be submitted (3-4 originals). Please contact the gallery for scheduling and delivering of art work.

NOTE:Neither PLEIADES nor any individual member will be responsible for damage or loss of slides or art work while being reviewed and judged. Every effort will be taken to ensure that each art work is handled carefully.

ACCEPTANCE:
When artwork is accepted by the gallery's members, and an opening for membership is available, the potential member is contacted and interviewed.

NOTE:
Upon acceptance as a new member, you will be given a letter of agreement to sign. This letter outlines your privileges and responsibilities to the gallery.

The gallery provides listings in the Gallery Guide and the Chelsea Map for each show. As a member you are entitled to a discount on your individual advertising in Gallery Guide.

*MEETINGS: Held on the second Sunday of every month at 11:00 AM, our meetings are an invaluable part of belonging to PLEIADES. Here we develop an artistic community and express our individual views. In addition, members are expected to be actively involved in Committee Work and to volunteer for projects that come up. (May meetings take place on the 1st or 3rd Sunday due to Mother’s Day).
 
 
*MEMBERSHIP FEES AND DUES:
New members must pay a one time initiation fee of $500 (payment installments may be arranged). Dues must be paid on time to ensure efficiency in running the gallery.
 
There are 2 categories of membership: Active and Less Active:
ACTIVE: All Gallery Officers included. Attends at least 5 meetings per year. Must choose a Gallery Job. Pays $140 dues per month. Must fulfill 4 work days or pay remaining work hours.
LESS ACTIVE: Attends less than 5 meetings per year. Cannot fulfill a Gallery Job. Pays $165 dues per month. Must fulfill 4 work days or pay work hours.
 
 
*REQUIRED WORK: Each member must complete 4 days of mandatory work in a 12-month period for the benefit of the gallery. Solo and Group Shows are not included in the 4 day work requirement. Members who fail to fulfill this obligation will be required to pay $70 per day to hire a replacement.
 
 
*ANNUAL EXHIBITS: Friends of Pleiades Invitational & Annual Juried Show
 
*PLEIADES GALLERY HOURS: Tuesday to Saturday: 11 am to 6 pm
